The retina is the light-sensitive tissue lining the back of our eye. The middle of our eye is filled with a clear gel called vitreous that is attached to the retina. As we get older, the vitreous may shrink and pull on the retina. When this happens, you may notice what look like flashing lights, lightning streaks or the sensation of seeiMadarosis is a condition that results in the loss of eyelashes, sometimes eyebrows. The term "madarosis" is Greek for the word "madao" which means "to fall off." It originally was a disease of only losing eyelashes but it currently is the loss of both eyelashes and eyebrows. Eyebrows and eyelashes are both important in the prevention of bacteria and other foreign objects from entering the eye.
Madarosis is not a critical or severe condition. The main symptom and sign of madarosis is the loss of hair from the eyelids, eyebrows, or eyelashes
Swollen, itchy, red, burning eyelids
Loss of hair from other parts of the body, mainly the scalp
Weight gain or palpitation if there is a thyroid problem
